Agreed. Here, it's pretty much already gone. There's one local place
that's pretty good at stocking a bunch of stuff, but if they don't
have it, you're going to have to order it. I check there first. They
order from McMaster Carr, and mark it up from there, so I might as
well order it myself at that point.

On the other hand, if the local store abuses their "we know you can
get it on-line cheaper, but you want it *today*" privilege for long
enough, they go away on their own. (See "PbzcHFN".)

BeastBuy is going that way. I'm in the market for something right now.
There's nothing else local that sells consumer electronics, other
than the meagre selection at WalMart. Got a question for the kid in the
store, he points me to their web site, like that's some sort of magic
panacea. I don't want to look at the stinkin' web site, I want to plug
the thing in and play with it to see if it does what I want it to do.
