It's probably an issue relevant this time of year. Grandfather Claus.
And, actually, most riders I know are more likely to run them forward;
there's usually a "highest milage" prize at the dinners. And it often
consists of a Honda Polish Kit of some sort, since most guys who get
that kind of milage do it on the road, rather than at the bike wash.
The usual fraud on bike sales is "no, it's never been down" and then
the new owner gets to find out just how badly cracked the frame is
some time later.
