Always on a Saturday here.
Traditionally on a Thursday in the UK, although there have been
discussions about moving it, with a belief that moving it to a weekend
might improve voter turnout. It would also shut fewer schools.
(Primary schools are a popular choice for polling stations.)
Saturdays are potentially awkward, however, for Jewish people.
Technically, I believe that a polling station official is allowed to
make the mark for them on the Sabbath, as they can for people otherwise
unable to make the mark.
