And while the maglev vendors wait for the orders to come pouring in,
French, German, and Japanese design engineers will continue to take
turns finding out how fast one can go with steel wheels on steel rail.
(The answer is usually "we really _can_ do within epsilon of what maglev
_says_ they can do".) It's a bit like the relationship between the
current price of oil and the size of Saudi Arabia's "proven reserves".
