I've worked in the furniture industry, and you'd be amazed at what a big
table you can get into a room undamaged if you have some space open
beside the door on both sides; doesn't matter if the top is wider than
the door and the legs are longer than the door.
(Deliverymen flip table on its side, approach door at an angle, ends of
one pair of legs go in first, then shift laterally to get the top started
through the door, move forward to bring the middle of the table through,
then similarly to get the trailing set of legs in.)
I've concocted similar tricks for moving couches/sofas through doorways
which are too narrow to accommodate either the depth of the couch or the
height of the backboard, but where the arms don't rise to the same height
as the back.
Of course, it does require that the overall length of the couch be less
than the doorway height. Otherwise, the only option is to forcibly
disassemble the couch, similarly widen the doorway, or use the window.
