Because they are filled with poison and it will kill you.

That will fall over when they do inevitably accidentally break one,
and don't subsequently die. Note that I am not necessarily
encouraging you not to help them along to said death.

Hope it's not UI, but the phosphor on the inside of some fluorescent tubes
interferes with blood clotting so cutting yourself on the glass is plus
ungood.
