While pretending to be roadkill on the InfoBahn, <abuse@xxxxxxxxxxxx> scrawled:
IIRC from doing the maths a few days ago, the critical mass of 100% U235
turns out to be about the area of a nano-ITX motherboard times 1U high.
Less-pure U235 requires a correspondingly large volume to account for what
is basically just unwanted filler material.
Hmm, iirc, the size of a tennis ball and the size of a baseball
for U235 and something else. Any rocket scientists out there?
Other candidates would seem to be Np236, Pu239, and various Cm isotopes all
with critical mass less than 10kg. To stop NOC monkeys getting suspicious
about how heavy it is you can stick a Sun badge on the front.
(I think my Ultra 30 is the heaviest single object I own.)
Heh. I just moved. Threw away 15 good computers. One was even
a E450. That was a bitch to lug around.
