"core duo" sticker and a small "refurbished" sticker on it. The box

Been there, done that, popped out to Maplins. (Yes, I know, but they
were open and reasonably close. I could have gone to CP Jbeyq.)
Maplins, shmaplins. Computer shop is in the same building as
repair shop. And I have the magic number that passes for cash
here [0][1]. Have you seen those fscking usb keyboards? They
used to carry a usable twenty bucks model, now the least evil
one there is the fruity thing. Which I managed to make almost
usable by pulling apart one of our old ones and puting the
bottom bit under the fscker.
[0] And a special dispensation from The Above allowing us to
actually shop there. Normally we're supposed to purchase stuff
through The Channels, as a Cost Saving Measure. So I can't go
to the store room downstairs, swipe a fob and grab a pack of
paper -- I have to type up a p/o, get the boss to sign it,
bring it to the business orifice, and $smallnum days later a
pack of paper will be delivered. To a lab in the next building
down the street. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing since now
when luser complains about "PC LOAD LETTER" error I simply tell
it where the business orifice is.
Anyway, this is biochemistry so the rules cover pens, paper,
test tubes and hazardous chemicals. But not computers, and we
are a databank. So we get an exception.
[1] Only, we have no money. Part of went to fund the Cost
Saving Measure above. The rest, rumour has it, was all cashed
out in unmarked $100 bills, loaded onto cargo planes and flown
to Iraq. Where it... well, nobody seems to know exactly what
happened, but they all agree it isn't there anymore.
