Back in my gradual student days, I once travelled far, with precious
samples ensconced on dry-ice, to gain access to magical measuring
devices, available at one lab only, the world-over. The traditional
approach is for said gradual students to stay up all night, tend to the
machines, keep them feed with samples (and cheese), and catch a nap
under the desk, if needed. So, it comes to pass that I need to feed
myself, at a late, but certainly not ungodly hour: 9pm or so. This being
an urban undergraduate campus in the eastern US, you'd think there would
be many options within walking distance. Turns out there are actually
few, but one of them seemed a reasonable facsimile of a "pub", in the
basement of a nearby apartment block. So I seat myself at the bar, and
order a calzone. Looks pretty good, I pick up the shaker of "Parmesan
cheese like substance" and liberally dose it. Hmm, seems sort of a finer
powder than I expected.

Sniff: Powdered garlic.

Oh well, some of it brushed off, and it'll keep the vampires at bay
back in the lab.
