I have traditionally addressed the 'opening-time' issue by the
deployment of my trusty corkscrew.

A man with a corkscrew is rarely short of friends.

Over the weekend my parents dropped in to stay overnight. They gave us a
present: a hammer. It's a perfectly good hammer, nice and solid, good
rubber grip etc. It's not huge but it's perfectly serviceable for nails
and panel pins. There is, however, one unusual aspect: where the claw
would be it's actually a bottle opener.

I'm rapidly reappraising my parents' sense of humor.
