They are hella nifty. Beautiful planes in the Disaster Area sort of
way: built to do one thing, one thing only, and do it better than
anything else ever made. But my favourite aircraft, by any stretch of
the imagination is the F4U-1 Corsair. It was not the fastest plane in
the Pacific theater, nor was it the most maneuverable, but damn me, it
was the most gorgeous. That plane looks like it was made to fly, like
if you just gave it half a chance and a wee bit of throttle, it would
take you into the sky and dance there all day with you. The Blackbird
will outrun anything you put it up against, sure, but the Corsair just
wants to play.

My 2nd favourite is the A-10, which is just itching for a fight. Go
ahead, tell it its mother dresses it funny. I dare ya. I'll be over
----> here. *whistles tunelessly*
