Yet.
One of them will think of it sooner or later.

Back in my navy.mil days, I had a boss who told me the story of his
tour on an admiral's staff as what is called the Flag Lieutenant.
This admiral was probably one- or two-star level, kind of a big-shot
but not exactly Ruler of the President's Nayvee.

Anyway, said admiral was running late for an airplane he had to catch,
due to a combination of unexpected events and poor planning. He
called his Flag Lieutenant in to his office and announced, "I am going
to be late for my flight. Have them hold it for me."

This was a commercially scheduled airliner, having nothing directly to
do with the Navy or any branch of government. The Flag Lieutenant did
the only thing he could think of: he called the airline and requested
that they hold the flight for the admiral's arrival, claiming that his
presence on that flight was important to "national security."

So, next time you hear those magic words, remember that story. I do.
