It often is. Grrr.
In particular, there is a spot in the second episode that's a dead
giveaway that it isn't a live audience responding. In the "general"
(which I guess is British lingo for the same thing that "all hands
meeting" is American lingo for), there is a spot where the big boss
says, "I can see that got your attention" and they immediately go
to a wider shot which reveals something humorous about the situation.
The "audience" laughs after the camera angle changes, but if they'd
been a real, in-person audience, they would've caught the visual
joke earlier, and presumably would've laughed earlier. (I've heard
of European audiences responding with laughter or applause later
than American audiences, but I don't think it'd be *that* late!)
