neither am I lacking in traits that conflict with the norm. I've taken the Myers-Briggs (or clones of it at least), and I have one of the least common personality types.
Have you noticed that the least common personality type (INTJ, something like that?) accounts for 2% of the population? And there are 2^4=16 combinations, and thus on average, each group has 6% of the population accounted for? It's not really as rare as people make that personality particular trait out to be.
Interesting point. If you're talking about odds of meeting someone that has your same personality type, then 2% vs. 6% is still a factor of three worse odds than average. But you're right that it doesn't make INTJ some kind of one-in-a-million thing.
On the other hand, I'm a little confused, because somewhere I had read that the split between introverts and extroverts was like 25%/75%, whereas the Myers-Briggs web site has very nearly a 50%/50% split between E and I. Maybe they're measuring a slightly different thing, or maybe they've normalized the scale or something.
