Over the last year or so, I've bought at least a hundred various 755's from the auction site, and have been installing XPP SP3 on them all with no problems yet.
Yes some of the systems come with no OS, some with Vista, etc, but I just delete any existing partitions as I install XPP.
The SFF systems are perfect for corporate use and the usual MS Office apps.

I thought I would pass along a tip I found elsewhere about installing
XP on an Optiplex 755, which I am doing for one of the local
financially challenged entities. I started up my trusty XP Pro SP3
CD, and, crunch, the system ground to a halt with nothing on the
screen after the usual Boot from CD message.
Now the system is happily installing XP, but only after I deleted all
the previous partitions. Seems like the Windows install and/or the
755 get confused by the presence of other partitions.
This is my first exposure to the Optiplex 755, and it seems to be
pretty good. My client needs PS/2 keyboard and mouse (for a PS/2
scanner) running on a newer system and the 755 fills the bill with its
extra little add-in to allow PS/2 device.
Decently low power consumption by the 755, too. Seems to peak out at
70 to 75 watts in a 2GB memory setup with dual core 2.6GHz CPU... Ben
