Do you guys think that it can FIX my hdd that has been compromised by a 0zx24 stop error.
I need for the drive to be fixed just long enough to run a couple programs so I can run their backups. Ubuntu let me recover data but I need to run a couple programs.
This is everything I've done to no avail:
Computer was turned off during MS Check Error routine maintenance. It resulted in a stop error code 0x24
I can't get into Windows using any of the safe modes or "last good known configuration".
I can't boot from a XP CD.
I DID boot from an Ubuntu cd and was able to back up the data I needed but of course Ubuntu can't run Windows programs and that's what I need to do.
I used a USB to SATA cable to connect to a Win 7 laptop to run chk dsk. Laptop recognized and gave the hdd a drive letter but said it had to be formatted.
Used a docking station to basically do the same thing. Got the same message...drive had to be formatted to use it.
Computer Management shows the drive as formatted in RAW instead of NTSF
I need to be able to run Windows to access two programs, AZZ Cardfile and Express Assist and run their backup programs. If I can do that, I'll be trashing the drive and installing Win 7 on a new 1TB drive. Does it sound like Spinrite can get my drive back up and running for a brief period? If you need anymore information, please ask.
Thanks,
Monica
