Your safest bet is to purchase a wireless adapter from the same company
that made your wireless router. That's /not/ a requirement, but routers
and clients from the same company were designed to work together, and
given the inherent fragility of wireless networking, you want to give
yourself every chance to succeed.

Beyond that, you want to match the capabilities of your client to the
capabilities of your router. For example, if your router is 802.11n,
2.4GHz single band and N300, you may as well look for the same features
in your client. A wireless network will perform to the abilities of its
least capable component.

Finally, keep in mind that the finest wireless technology can be
severely compromised by competition from your neighbor's router, or a
baby monitor, or a ventilation shaft in a wall.

Good suggestion!  Called the telephone company that provides the 2wire
modem and router  and it turns out that they sell a usb wireless
adapter for that modem.  A little pricey, but after spending sometime
at Tigerdirect and Newegg reading wireless adapter reviews, I figure
it might be worth the price.  Thanks...Larry

Okay, the phone company provides wifi built into its broadband modem.
I would pass up the phone company's wifi card. You could do far worse
than a Linksys USB wifi adapter. With the high degree of
interoperability testing done by all manufacturers, there should be no
compatibility problem between a wifi card and the wifi component of
your 2wire... Ben Myers
