The primary hard drive won't be wiped clean unless you boot from the CDIf you want to be absolutely safe just pull the cables on the second

will not be touched unless you mistakenly format it.

Have a Dimension 8250. I plan to do a clean install of XP Home Edition
on this computer using the Dell XP CD that came with the computer. The
computer has 2 hard drives. During installation I know that the hard
drive that the OS will be installed on will be formatted, wiped clean.
Will the second hard drive be touched at all, or left alone?
drive during the install.

I had thought of doing that, but it's a kind of a pain in the neck opening the
case on this computer. The computer has to be laid on it's side and then the
top half pulled up. I have to clear off a big space on my desk whenever I
open this computer. I don't like opening it unless I have to. Good
suggestion, though. Better to be safe than sorry.
