Plug the monitor back into the bad connector. You will see the XP
Desktop. Go into Settings and make the other monitor the primary and do
not extend to the monitor you're on. The monitor will go blank. Move
the cable back to the 7000.
Quirk of the 2400.

Subject: Problem installing a PCI video card into a Dell 2400
The connection on the Intel onboard video on my old Dell 2400 has come
loose and I sometimes have to jiggle the connection to get it working
again.
Because of this I decided to buy a PCI (no AGP slot) video card. It's
a Radeon 7000 that I got from newegg.
Anyway, when I installed the card, I turned off the onboard video in
the F2 setup. The new card seems to work fine (it shows the Dell
screen and the XP screen), but soon after it goes black (with a few
fragments of color in the upper left corner).
Can anyone recommend anything else that I can do to get it working? I
tried installing the drivers from the CD as well the most recent
Catalyst's that work for this card.
