Christopher, I'd just like to let you know that the cards I ordered as you
suggested came in yesterday, and today I installed them in the 360's.

They worked perfectly. No drivers needed for the USB card at all.

I did install the card reader drivers on Dell site lisrted for a card
reader for an Optiplex 760 and they also worked perfectly.

timothy, i also do not see any detailed specs that indicate that there is
an internal usb header to use to connect your internal card reader. What
I woudl suggest is that you purchase an inexpensive usb expansion card to
install in one of the pci slots. this card would provide an internal
header that would allow you to connect your internal card reader. but
you will have to shop carefully since not all of these cards have the 10
pin type connector inbternally, some have a regular usb port internally.
i think this one will do the trick and you should not need to install any
drivers for it.

So, do any of you have any reccomendations for an internal card
reader that I could use in the Optiplex 360?

BTW, While I was at the store, I also looked at add-in PCI USB cards
to see if I could find a USB card that might include an internal USB
header that would work with the card reader, but no dice. all the
USB cards that did include an internal USB port provided a standard
USB port inside, not a USB header connector.

Drats.

If you have the mini tower, Dell says there are 2 10 pin USB
connectors.

There are 3 count them 3 10 pin connectors on the motherboard.

Parden me please If I'm overlooking something, but the only reference I
find in the manual your link points to is on page 28 where it lists 2
internal 10-pin headers for the front USB ports and one other 10-pin
connector buts its for a front panel audio HDA header.

If I go to Dells US web site, go to product support, choose Desktop,
Optioplex, 360, and view the service manual,

Under the 'System Board' section all it shows is an overall picture of
the system board rather that the ususal detailed picture of the systems
board that you find in most other dell manuals.

I've looked high and low with a magnifying glass (I'm getting old) and
can't find the ususal 10-pin header I'd expect to find.

That reply seems to indicate that perhaps in the past the 360 used to
have the 10-pin header, but they don't anymore?
