We recently purchased a pair of Optiplex 360's and our Dell sales rep also
sold us a couple of Dell card readers that he said would fit although we
would have to install them ourselves.

I didn't think that would be a problem, so I said sure.

well, now that they've arrived, yes the card readers physically fit just
fine.

However when I open the 360's up to connect the card reader to the
motherboard, I discovered that the motherboard doesn't have a typical
internal USB header connector.

Ooops.!

I have visited the local well stocked computer store, and I looked at 6 or
8 different internal card readers, but they all connect to the motherboard
with a USB internal header. I thought that perhaps at least one or two
might include an optional cable that would pass through the case, exit the
back and plug into a standard rear panel USB connector. Nope.

I'd really prefer an internal card reader vs an external one for a number
of reasons.

So, do any of you have any reccomendations for an internal card reader
that I could use in the Optiplex 360?

BTW, While I was at the store, I also looked at add-in PCI USB cards to
see if I could find a USB card that might include an internal USB header
that would work with the card reader, but no dice. all the USB cards that
did include an internal USB port provided a standard USB port inside, not
a USB header connector.

Drats.

Any suggestions?
I got a cable here.... http://www.frontx.com/store/order_a.html
Works with card reader to a usb pci board with an internel usb connector
The item shipps from overseas so expect to wait about 10 days to 2 weeks for
it. But it does the job
