Re: enlarging a RAID mirror volumne under IAA

The system had two 500GB disks. The RAID controller was managing two
mirror volumes on the pair of disks. The first volume is about 150GB
and the second is about 350GB. I replaced the disks one at a time so I
now have the two volumes on a pair of 1TB disks. This leaves about
500GB unused on each disk. There is a way to tell the RAID controller
to expand the second volume to use the free space. That method is what
I am trying to rediscover.

Not sure I understand the question. If it is a mirror array, then
you're talking Raid 0. If the drives are not the same size, the mirror
is sized to the SMALLER drive. How could it do anything else and still
mirror the drive?

Regardless, ANY changes to the array are destructive and will wipe out
all data.

Can anyone out there tell me how to enlarge the second volume on a
RAID mirror array on a Dell 8400 running Intel Application Accelerator
version 4?

There is some trick that causes the second volume to expand to use the
remaining free space on the drives. I did this once several years ago,
but I have managed to forget how I did it and the "Help" information
is useless.
