I have the ATI 128MB DDR Radeon 9800 Pro and had a couple of problems
that I am told was related to the video drivers. I have a Dell Dim
8300 desktop containing the card and the current drivers are version
6.14.10.6476. I checked the Dell site and their latest driver for the
card is version 7.97-031212a. On the ATI site, I find the lastest
version listed there is 8.11.....

My desktop is out of warranty, so I'm looking for the best approach to
update the drivers. Dell or via ATI -or- a new card?

Any insights/advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Start with the lastest Dell driver even though it is an older version. I
assume you're seeking stability primarily.

Your card is an ATI-based chipset card made for Dell by a third party
vendor, not necessarily (or very likely) ATI themselves.
