Microsoft has some Vista readiness software on line, but I think that your system is capable of running reasonably as long as it has enough memory.
I ran this last night, and it just said "Vista" - it didn't say anything about 32 or 64-bit versions.
64-bit Vista with 4GB or more may be a better choice than 32-bit Vista. Either way, be prepared to deal with incompatibilities with older software and add-on devices like printers, scanners, etc.
I ran the service tag through the dell support site and it turns out I have a "2.8GHz Pentium D". Does that change anything?
