Okay, then. Download and install Dell DLA 4.95 A02 from the Dell web site. It
is compatible with XP. You are lucky not to be using Vista.
Here is the URL, but you may find it easier to search it out yourself on the
Dell Support web site:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R86132&formatcnt=1&fileid=112751
This page, "How to Format a Disc for Use with DLA (Drag and Drop) Software", on
the HP web site may or may not help:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00027361&lc=en&cc=us&product=81685&dlc=
Honestly, I am grasping for straws here, because I do not use CD-RW disks
myself... Ben Myers

Ben,.
Here lies my issue, I need to find a program that will allow me to format
the CDRW.
I tried your 1 st link and yes I now how to find the files to burn but I
again still need a way to format the disk for DnD. CDBurnXP does not have a
format feature.

The other way to do this is to find out where on your hard disk Quicken
squirrels away its backup files. It is a damned nuisance that Quicken has
to
stick the backup files (and the data files) somewhere generally
inaccessible to
non-geeks. They seem to have learned too well from Microsoft, who hide
Outlook
and Outlook Express mailboxes way off in never-never land.
Start by going to the root of the C: drive, clicking Documents and
Settings,
then the folder identified by your login name (something like Dave?).
Next, try
Local Settings and drill on down until you find a Quicken folder. The
other
folder to try is Application Data, with the same approach as for Local
Settings.
The Quicken files are buried there somewhere. I found them for a client
to help
him migrate his data from an old to a new computer, but I cannot remember
where.
This is the sort of thing I should write down, but then I would have
trouble
finding the paper in the reams of stuff I have here.
The following article on the web explains what you have apparently been
doing on
your Dimension 2400:
http://www.agecon.okstate.edu/quicken/files/Backing%20up%20file.pdf
And there is this article:

Ben,
Will the CDXP program allow me to drap and drop? if you follow the baove
post I was abot to get the drive to write files but right clicking and
selected wrtie files to disk, but I still can not get Quicken 2002 to be
able to wrtie the back files. I have to back-up to my HD and then copy to
CDRW Disk.

Dave,
You've taken a page from my book. I still keep a copy of Nero Express
on
this
computer, but I use CDBurnerXP and ImgBurn for most DVD and CD burning.
I
have
never looked for a freeware/shareware drag-and-drop CDRW program,
because
I do
not use the CDRW blanks. I bet that one exists... Ben Myers

Running XP SP3
I agree Roxio package sucks, no DVD burning software and it seems no
D&D.
From what I have been able to find the DE on the end stands for DellEdition, its a very stripped down version, I guess they want you to buy
it
and let their greed get more money for them. Thats why i try to use open
source or shareware programs to the unmost, like my dvd burnign software
now, dvdflick.

Are you running Vista or XP on the 530S? Sounds like Vista to me.
It also sounds like the Roxio package bundled recently with Dell boxes
is
deficient. The Roxio bundled with Dell systems running XP had the
necessary
add-ons allow the drag-and-drop and similar actions.
A word of caution about CD-RW disks. Yes, they are convenient in
allowing
drag-and-drop once they are formatted. But they are none too popular
because
they have the habit of failing at unexpected moments... Ben Myers

Greetings all,
I am starting to setup my 530S, but have nioticed a strange problem
wht
I
try to use the CDRW.
On my old 2400 I was able to drag and drop files into the folder
using
explorer or have an auto back up set up like in Quicken to save my
file
to
the RW disk.
I can not figure out what I am missing. I can not drag and drop, I can
not
have the auto back-up from Quicken save to the disk.
I have earsed all files from the 2400 so it is clean, I cannot locate
a
format for the disk.
So what did I miss.
Sorry for being so ignorant but I tried to search the web for help to
no
avail.
Any leads to sites or ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for yor help,
Dave
