Side venting is certainly an improvement over fan vents that open to the bottom
of a laptop... Ben Myers

No misnomer for me. Most of the time at home, I use it wirelessly on
my lap but I either slouch back or cross my legs in my favorite chair
so that it doesn't rest on or fry my jewels. On occasion I will use a
cushion on my lap with the laptop resting on it. Works for me <g>.
BTW, my E1405 vents/blows out the side unlike my older 1100 which got
hot on the bottom (now renegaded to guest laptop and works fine using
XP).
My 1405 usually runs at around 108 to 111F (seagate hd) but on
occasion goes to 130F (multitasking a lot) which is very warm to the
touch. Specs say it can go to 140F.
