Re: OT--SP3?

Ben,

Thanks! I agree with you comment on the doofus programmers in HP's printer
software division.

Going though the registry looking for Print Mirror would be long task. HP
techs just did not know what to say other than they have had problems with
SP3. I will just let it go and see if HP offers another driver at some point
in time. And I know that may never happen. Since I can still print in the
Normal Print mode I will stay with that.

Thanks for your comments and observations. Of course I could reinstall the
OS and all software including the printer software and be back to normal
before the SP3 installation but that too is a long task. Printer ink only
costs a little over $5,000.00 per GALLON so I have heard. : )

HP's printer settings clutter up the registry just like everything else.
There
is some small risk of harm from speelunking in the registry, trying to
identify
the registry entry controlling mirror image printing, and resetting it.
Try
searching the registry for "Print Mirror" to find the registry key,
although
those doofus programmers in HP's printer software division could have done
something more obscure and stupid to name a registry key... Ben Myers

Mel,

I had one issue with SP3 and that was with a setting in my HP Officejet
Pro
L7580 printer. When I selected Fast/Economical Printing it changed the
default setting of Print Mirror Image from Off to On. You can imagine how
surprised I was when I printed my first document after installing SP3 and
it
printed in the mirror image.

In normal printing the default setting for Print Mirror Image is still
Off.
With a chat dialogue to a tech person at HP they confirmed that SP3 has
caused some problems with some of their driver software. So I will not be
able to use Fast/Economical printing with the printer.

I uninstalled SP3 and the problem did not correct itself. So SP3 hosed the
HP software setting in this one mode of printing.

HP is aware of my situation after the SP3 uninstall. They had no solution
now for this situation.
