Here's something to try AFTER making a complete backup of your registry.
You can change the drive back to "C" via the registry entry, HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices. You will see a herd of "\DosDevices\"X:" entries (without quotes), where X = drive letter. Find the one called "\DosDevices\c:" and rename it to something not in the list; something like "\DosDevices\z:" will do fine. Now, rename the entry "\DosDevices\F:" to "\DosDevices\C:". That should do it. If you can't get to your local registry to make these edits, you'll have to use something like Ultimate Boot or Barts PE and mount the external registry for editing.
