Wally:
I can't find that file. When I upgraded to 8.0, I just chose RUN rather than
save.
I guess I'll just d/l it again and then run it with your additional
switches.
However, I'll try Chris' suggestion first.

I'm using the FREE edition. I don't mind the slow scans. Like you, I do

But, as I said, surfing the net has become intolerably slow once I have
2-3
windows open.
I use ZA too.

Hi!
When I open a few windows in my browser, everything slows to
a crawl.
I assume this is due to a larger footprint?
What version of AVG 8.0? Free? Internet Security?
I am running AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0 on a Compaq Deskpro EN
desktop Pentium III clocked at 866MHz. It is running Windows 2000
Professional SP4. I have not noticed much--if any--difference in
performance after moving from AVG Free 7.5 to 8.0.
There is a (tolerable) slowdown during virus scans, but I don't see
how that could be avoided. So I scheduled the scan to take place late
at night...

I would suggest going to Start-Run and past this in. This example has
the install in C:\aa but put it where you want to. (sorry about the
wrap)
c:\aa\avg_free_stf_en_8_100a1295.exe /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSurf
/REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSearch
This will remove the web crapola. If you install right over the
existing, it will take that stuff out.
