Update: I couldn't figure it out, got frustrated and just reinstalled
windows.
I suspect that it may be Zone Alarm, so didn't reinstall Zone Alarm
package -- BTW, I was using the entire security suite which includes
Firewall, AntiVirus, Anti Spyware and Spam blocker. Although I've
used this suite for several years without problem I recently installed
an update so this might have been the problem.
Right now, I am relying on Windows firewall sp2 firewall, ince I
installed on clean hard drive and there was no opportunity for a
trojan, etc to "dial out". I don't want to do this forever. Any
suggestions on low maintenance, low footprint security packages? Not
sure I want to go without protection!
PS: One small problem after the reinstall. With laptop docked,
system cannot find the USB driver and I can't seem to use my wireless
mouse. When I undock, no problem. Any thoughts? Mouse is Logitech
laser mouse, but I'm not using the logitech (and have never used) the
logitech software. Never had a problem before. And, yes, I did
install the chipset driver upgrades.
Best,
Lisa
PPS: Ran memtest86 and no problems with the upgraded memory -- which
has been installed for last year and half.
