What I want to know is - what spread*** should I use? My Bishop said
Excel or something. He did not mention which one. I suppose any that
works will be good.

What I would like is one that is easy to use, I can burn to cd, easy for
me to share with others on cd, free or cheap, maybe a little customizable.

I recommend Open Office -- it's free (www.openoffice.org). That way
if maintaining the list is rotated there wouldn't be the cost of
multiple copies of Excel.

For distributing read-only copies, do a Google search for something
like "inexpensive .pdf file creation". You should be able to find an
inexpensive way to create acrobat-compatible output so that it's
likely the destination computer will be able to read the document
without any special software.

The non-profit organization I volunteer for supposedly purchased MS
Office 2003 for $20 / copy so if you have to go with Office I
recommend looking into that (Google is your friend).

Open office will write PDF's and the version coming out later this
year is going to be Office 2007 compatible. Open office includes
spread***, word processor, database and a presentation package.

I use on the ocassional server so I don't need a license and save
everything in its respective M$ format.

Mike, you got me wondering if one can still buy Office 2003 or some
older version of Office at a substantially reduced price compared to
the current version? Not sure tho this will help the OP because I
don't think it has a database unless he doesn't want that. I agree
many suggest the same alternative so I already told the OP in another
post to go with that info because many like yourself, suggest the
same thing and I doubt that many are wrong.

It does have a database as indicated above. Office 2003 is difficult
to find even OEM versions. My company has a discount deal with M$ and
while I can get XP, I can't get office 2003, even though 2003 is our
company standard.
