OT:problem with IE and Firefox

This group is so knowledgeable and I'm hoping someone can help or at
least point me to a source of help. In both Firefox (main browser) and
IE I'm suddenly unable to open select pages within a site. This first
occurred when clicking on a Favorite, the NY Times Premium Crossword
Page. It starts to open, then disappears and browser closes. I can
access the newspaper and other sections of the paper but not this one.
Today I logged onto Pogo, a game site successfully, but when clicking
on a game room, the same thing happens.This is on my Dell 8300 running
XP Pro, SP2; tried shutting down AVG Free and Kerio firewall, didn't
help. Everything's fine on my HP laptop, running XP home, SP2.
Firewall on laptop is Comodo. I'm a good housekeeper, run CCleaner,
jv16 reg cleaner and defrag regularly. Also run several spy/malware
programs. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
