My Inspiron 9400 with Vista Ultimate takes forever (a minute usually) to
reconnect to my Linksys G access point after resuming from either Sleep
or Hibernation. It apparently is related to the Vista driver for this card
(I have a spare HD with XP installed for this same machine and it
reconnects with XP in seconds). My daughter has an Inspiron 1720 with
Vista Home that reconnects almost instantly, so it doesn't appear to be
Vista itself.

I am using the most current Dell driver and I am doubting that Dell is
going to invest much to update the driver, so I am thinking about just
getting a different internal mini card (Intel?) that will recover faster
because of its better driver.

The question I have is "Can the Dell 1390 card be replaced by the user?"
Mostly concerned about reconnecting with internal antenna.

Next question would be how to get a different card, and which one. Ebay?

Mike

p.s. I also updated to Vista SP1 with no effect on this problem.

Yes. Instructions:

You should be able to buy an Intel internal PCI-e Mini-Card most anywhere
online. No need to use ebay.
