I am DSCE certified, and you do not need to reed all the manuals, however what you do need to do is look at the strip down instructions, and as previously stated you can download them all and browse them offline.
Another way to do it is to log into the DCSE website using firefox and then once logged in open another browser window and cut and paste the url into it and that will allow you to view the exam and the strip downs. also another tip is to use the find function in your browser when seaching for something like a typical question would be how many usb2 ports does the inspiron 6000 have then use the find tool ie CTRL + F and search the page that way.
Also if the question states "tick all that apply" they are saying there is more than one answer and it should be a square box, if there is only one answer it should be a round radio button to choose from.
and finally you will not get 100% score as there are a few questions designed for you to get wrong.
Good Luck

smart that it senses both IE and Firefox? ... Ben Myers
Well, I could use my laptop to have the website material up and ready to browse, but I would like to have this material in print. I have to think that there must be some kind of workbook or something that a DCSE would have to make reference to. You may not be able to always carry a laptop around with you when doing work on the various desktops, portables and servers.

I'm studying to take the exams to become a Dell Certified Systems Expert.
When you pay for the exams, does Dell provide the course materials in the
form of a workbook or possibly a DVD? I ask because some of the
subjects, like a few of the notebook models, when printed out, can be
well over 100 pages each.
If we have any DCSE's in the group I would like some information about
the testing and the study materials.
I'm not a DCSE, but had considered it at one time.
I thought a lot of the study material/documents and even some simulated
tests were up there on the DCSE website (once you're registered)?
It could've changed as it's been 2/3 years since I was looking at it.

Yes, all the study material is on the DCSE website, but in the course of
taking a practice exam you are informed that opening another browser window
will bump you off the exam. So, my question is if that is the case during
the actual exam, how do you manage to have all that information in front of
you to refer to? The exam is "open book" style. I looked at some of the
laptop models, in order to print out the material, and some of them are well
in excess of 100 pages! And the study material for one of the laptops
generates over 300 pages of information!
I've emailed my contact at Dell Education Services, but haven't heard back
yet.
There is no problem, just open the IFR materials page in a new window ( I usually open two just in case I accidentally close one). Once your exam is in progress you can right click to open the required IFR document in HTML form and follow the links there to the information you need.
If you wish these documents can be downloaded whole for reference.
Hope this helps.
