RE: TV Tuner: No sound whatsoever

This may be completely incorrect, but the last ATI card I owned required
a cable from the video card to the sound card to make sound work. You
might open the case and see if it has come loose.

Worst case, you can get a much better TV card for $50 or so.

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 with a Radeon 9000 board.

I used to be able to watch TV on it, via the ATI TV application and a
cable hookup from the video board to my home cable jack. But at some
point this past year, the audio just stopped working, for no reason I
can figure out. I was getting just audio noise; the sound underneath
was barely audible. So I updated the drivers for both ATI and
SoundBlaster. Now I'm getting no sound whatsoever--not even any
noise.
Just totally mute.

I have also tried Windows Movie Maker. I select TV Tuner, and the
dialog box shows video coming from ATI Rage Theater Video Capture--but
again, no sound, no audio.

The fact that there's no sound from the video from the TV tuner, with
either Windows Movie Maker or ATI TV, suggests that the problem isn't
with the ATI software, but is with either the drivers or some update
that Microsoft has provided.

This problem did *NOT* start immediately after I updated any drivers.
Rather, I have no idea why it might have started happening.

Any ideas?
