One of my notebook computers doesn't have a card reader. I am hoping
to find a PCMCIA card reader so that I can read / write SD cards (from
a camera). Google searches, Sandisk site, etc. haven't turned up
much. I would want it to handle up to 4GB SDHC. Also I don't know
the technical limitations of PCMCIA regarding the speed of data
transfer.

I wanted to follow up and post what I ended up finding.

Extensive Googling didn't come up with a fast PCMCIA SD card reader,
which was very surprising. I think there were a few PCMCIA CF
readers.

When I looked at the Latitude D520 specs, it said that it could accept
an expresscard with an adapter.

User reviews were very helpful in finding the right expresscard and
adapter. Many users reported that certain cards didn't work or were
"junk".

There were good reviews of the following, which I purchased and
installed tonight:

USB Based Expresscard Adapter

Delkin ExpressCard 34 6-In-1 ExpressCard 34 Card Adapter
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000M5U8KU

I mistakenly thought that that the adapter would be flush with my
laptop, but that is only for laptops that have an ExpressCard and
don't require the adapter, which sticks out about 1/4".

Vista automatically recognized everything and used built-in drivers.
Everything works well.

Given the fact that it sticks out, most users would probably prefer
using a USB reader. I like the expresscard solution because it stays
in very firm and doesn't feel like anything would break off if bumped.
I keep a lot of my common data on a SDHC card which lets me work with
that data easily on any computer.
