Thanks Tony for all the replies / info. The c550 really sounds good.
You're welcome, RnR, I posted some more info today (wanted to get some
details on NavTeq vs. Street Atlas); but I don't mean to shove it down
your throat. As I mentioned, the mount was a real factor for me, plus a
(relatively) low price. If I were buying now, I'd look at the Garmin
Nuvi & Magellan units mentioned in the review, but I'm guessing they're
still noticeably more expensive.

Tony

No you're not shoving down my throat at least IMO and I appreciate all
the info I can get :) . Let me ask what you know or think of the
c530 ? Walmart has it on sale in my location for $178 + tax. The
only reason I'd consider it would be for the price otherwise I'll
consider the c550. I don't want to spend a lot because I won't use it
more than once a month and don't need all the bell's and whistles. I
just want to have the practical features for navigation in a car (day
or night).

I like the price - new /refurb? You'd have to compare the feature sets
to decide what you'd be happy with. When doing something like this I
don't focus solely on my current needs/wants, but try to think 6 mos - 1
year ahead thinking "what am I going to wish I'd bought now?" and factor
that in.

Well to add to my most recent post, I just saw on line, Office Depot
has the C530 for $180 after rebate BUT the rebate ($70) takes 60-90
days to receive. I don't have experience with Office Depot's rebates
but I'm a bit leary from rebate horror stories and my own experiences
and having to wait that long makes me a bit on edge too so likely I
won't go for this. I just wish it was without the rebate but oh well.
