slightly OT

trying to make a back up copy of my dell Vista ultimate disk which i am allowed to do, however if i try and burn it to an ordinary dvd no matter which writer i use the disk always ends up as a coaster with the "illegal disk" failed error, however if i burn to a RW dvd it burns ok, now one would think it's a media fault, but no that burns other stuff ok, it might br DRM but ultimate allows you to make a back up copy (i made an ISO as well and tried that but just the same) so now I'm totally baffled
