The first thing I do is turn it off. I'll try turning it back on just to see!

Seems like I had a similar problem with my Inspiron 9400 with an ATI card. I.
either triggered it with User Access Control setting changes or fixed it
that way. Try shutting off UAC and see what happens.

I contacted Dell regarding this issue and I can't believe the response!Howdo they train these people?-----------------------------

it
"I sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience caused to you. However,
please be assured that I will personally look into the matter and resolve
to the best of your satisfaction.refresh
I see from the records that this system has integrated Intel 965 Graphics
card installed in this system. I would like to inform you that the maximum
screen resolution supported by the video card in this notebook is 1024x768
with 32 bit colors and 60 Hertz refresh rate. Also, the screen resolution
supported by this monitor is 1440 x 900 at 262K colors and 60 Hertzrate. This is the reason that it reverts to 1024x768 screen resolution asdiscrete
video card initializes the maximum supported video resolution while waking
up from sleep.
You can either disable the sleep mode from preventing it to revert to
maximum screen resolution that video card supports or to purchase a
video card that will maintain the higher screen resolutions withoutputtingstrain on system resources like memory and processor to force higherscreenresolution than video card in this notebook is capable of.this
We can also try to upgrade the system setup BIOS of this system for this
issue. Please use the following web link to download and install it in

Please feel free to ask me for any clarification or further information. I
will be glad to assist you."
