Re: FYI: Dell lets Vista Business Users revert to XP

the networking symptoms that you describe, and lots of others specific to
wireless networking with vista, are supposed to have been resolved with some
of the many updates. however, there have been problems with some machines
getting updates... check to see if there are any windows updates available
to you. or just load xp so you don't have to be a beta tester for microsoft
anymore.

Cumu-

It grows on you.............

But it has some annoying quirks (possible bugs). On my Vostro 1700,
Vista sporadically moves me out of my "VOSTRO" workgroup and back into
the default "WORKGROUP" workgroup. Without telling me why, or even
telling me it's done it.

Vista also, for reasons best known to itself, randomly turns off
network and file discovery so I boot up and find I can't see the other
two computers in my "VOSTRO" workgroup...........necessitating a
tedious few mouse clicks to turn on discovery, whereupon everything
works again. But, again, why?

The annoying factor in these two (trivial) events is the
randomness..........there doesn't seem to be any criteria involved.
