Re: OT--volume icon disappears

I am HOPING it's fixed. So far, so good. But the problem has been sporadic.

I don't backup completely that often (inportant data files I back up to my
desktop (from my laptop). I then do an Acronis image b/u every 3 months. I
am due for a b/u next week.

Even if the problem continued, I would still do a complete b/u. It does not
appear to be a virus and I'll run Ad-Aware. It is just an ANNOYANCE.

See if this helps.

That has some ideas.
The problem does NOT appear to be a Vol. icon per se. Subsequent to my
post,
other icons disappear also.

Yesterday I did do a System Restore. Right now all is working well. Let's
hope that does it.

Mel, where can I send the bill ..... just kidding. Glad it worked
for you. Sometimes when there are too many variables, rather than
knock myself out trying to know the exact cause I go for the easy way
and either do a system restore or use a backup. Of course I may miss
one learning experience but I figure I have and I will learn more so
taking the easy way once in a great while is fine. I have to admit
tho, sometimes its things of this nature that makes me a bad teacher
because given a problem, I can solve it (in matter of hours or days)
but I can't always tell others what I did to solve it :( . At least
this time I was able to tell you how I would try to solve it.

Again Mel, glad it solved your problems. If I were you, I'd give it a
couple of days and if you think the system is working fine, I'd back
things up to play safe. The only reason I say don't back up now is
because we don't know for sure if it's fixed so we don't want a backup
of a bad setup unless you have a reason for this.
