Vinegar, like ammonia (Windex) isn't a good cleaner for this
application. TVs and other things you mentioned are glass. The front
surface of an LCD is plastic. Although occasional use is probably ok
(I've been using Windex OCCASIONALLY for years), frequent use may damage
the plastic. I'd think that "straight" vinegar would be worse than the
diluted ammonia in Windex. Water or mild water-based cleaners are best,
but may not really clean the screen adequately if the stains are
really bad.
Barry, I won't argue with you except to say I've been doing it my way
occasionally for 1 to 2 years without a problem. One of my laptops is
the glossy screen and the rest are not. No problems on any of them
including my lcds for my pc's. As I said tho, I just dampen my paper
towels so the vinegar dries fast and I don't do it often (perhaps 4-6
months apart). I developed this method after reading too many saying
different ways to clean those screens and there seemed to be no
consensus of opinion :( .
