Earlier today I was outa town and had my E1405 to use for wifi. I was
at a "Drury Inn" then and had no problem (maybe too easy ?? ) getting
on to their free wifi to surf the net. However later when I went
into a public library which also offered free wifi, I had a bunch of
trouble trying to connect to the net (from 2 places inside). First I
had to sign up for a free account using their wifi provider inorder to
use their wifi hotspot. I'm not sure why since Drury Inn didn't do
this. And for a "short" while I was able to connect in the library
but not after that. All the time it could identify the SSID, showed a
good signal and could ping the library's IP address with no packet
loss. I tried to make the connection at the library without my
firewall but it didn't matter. I even tried a different browser to no
avail. Finally I had to leave so I couldn't keep trying different
things and to be honest tho they told me they had free wifi, I didn't
see anyone else using a laptop, only the library's own desktops.
Anyone have a similar experience and how you connected? I'm back
home now so I can't work on this any longer but I will try when I go
back later this summer.
Just to add to this post I recall releasing and renewing the IP
address (repair) and I just found their ip network ... called
Lessnetworks.com. Thanks.
