Some in the Canon Elph series don't have a viewfinder. Also, the
viewfinder in Elphs such as the 800 IS which I own, have a viewfinder
but it's useless.
All in the Canon Elph series use rechargeable batteries. There are
pros and cons to that. I prefer rechargeable batteries, but it's a
subject with strong pros and cons, and it depends a lot on how someone
plans to use the camera.
The viewfinder in the S3 IS was also fairly useless (as well as the
LCD). The resolution was very low. The viewfinder on the new S5 IS
is better, but still a disappintment. Fortunately the LCD on the S5
finally is good enough.
