RE: Docking Station for E1505?

No docking station. Some of the Latitudes do. Any chance of returning
the E1505 and helping him make a better choice for his needs?

Parallel port printer would require a USB->Parallel converter, since
there is no parallel port on the E1505. Model requires an Ethernet
connection (although I'd go wireless). Keyboard/mouse more USB.

Personally, I'd buy a USB Ethernet card and a USB hub. Just don't use
the internal Ethernet connector. Everything except the monitor could be
connected through the hub. He'd have two connections to make. One USB
connector and one monitor.

If he's willing to live with 1280x1024 on the external monitor (i.e. 19"
LCD or smaller), you could use something like:

http://www.usbgear.com/USB-Video-Card.html

and get down to one connection.

I'd go wireless, which would be more efficient than the USB LAN card and
I'd try to find a way to get the right Latitude for him.

Subject: Docking Station for E1505?

Is there a docking station for an Inspiron E1505?

If not, how can I set up a connection for a disabled neighbor that
involves the
fewest cables to his laptop? He wants an external monitor, a parallel
port
printer, an Ethernet DSL modem (no wireless),an external keyboard and
mouse and
some USB things.

He has a Kensington K33239 port replicator that will take care of some
of these,
but it will be a burden if he has to connect cables for the monitor,
Ethernet, etc.

Thanks.
