Max Memory for XPS 600

I think I found the answer on the Dell Forum. There is something
off in the chipset the XPS 600 uses that prevents 32 bit XP Pro from
using more than 2gb. An alleged MS employee says that XP SP3 will
provide a workaround, so that the /3gb switch will work, and of 4 gig
of physical memory, the OS will use 1 gig, and provide 3 gig to applications.
The threads were rather convoluted, but the ones that tried to install more
than 2 gig could not get the OS to recognize it, even though the BIOS did.
Some reported a message in the BIOS Log that it was downsizing memory.
If anyone has better information I would love it, as I know Photoshop CS2
can use the 3 gig, and I am using a lot of temp file space with my large
scans, and only getting 50-70% efficiency as reported by PSCS2.
