Something you might even consider is doing what I was thinking about
doing. Just go into system setup and set the other drive (the one that
will be the home to Vista) as the boot drive, just change the order.
Then do your Vista install. When you want to boot back to XP go back into
system setup and switch it back, my your XP drive the 1st bootable drive.

I had very recently asked if this would work as a dual boot solution is
this same NG and I got one response from someone saying that it works fine
for him. To me that's the simplest way to go about setting up a dual boot
between OSs. Now, I haven't done it yet so I can't personally state that
it works fine, but I've got one vote so far that says it is...... Might
there be others out there?

Good luck,

Jeff

Before I buy something online I always check at fatwallet and techbargins
for online promo codes (Dell seems to always have some kind of promo
code).
Tom I believe you did the 2nd HD vista install with the Dell Vista
Upgrade kit? If so did you do a clean install skipping the XP install
first? I would like to do a clean install onto the new HD then just pop
off the side of my E520 and swap sata connectors on the HDs depending on
which OS I want to boot up(takes less then a minute to push the lever
release on the side panel and both HD's sata connections are right there
for easy switching, wierd way to go I know but seems like the least
complicated).

Sorry Pongo if posting the newegg thing offended you as you considered
it
spam, wasn't meant to be. I just wanted to pass on a good deal for
others since I've seen a few guys here thinking of picking up a second
drive to try Vista..

I appreciate the tip about Newegg. especially the part with the
"paypal10" code to get free shipping.

How did you learn about that? Is it always the deal, or only for a
limited time?
