Hello all,
Dell Insiron 8200 with Windows XP Pro:
I left my laptop open and on, downloading some big emails (still on dial-up) while I went to walk the dog. While I was away, the
cats got up on there and hit some key combination. Now my video output to the screen has shrunk. It has the same aspect ratio
as
normal but it is about half the size of the full screen size and it is perfectly centered in the middle (top to bottom and left
to
right) of the screen.
I've tried a re-boot and that did not fix it.
Does anyone know what they hit to do this? How do I fix it?
Fn-F8.

Notan,
Thanks for the feedback.
I'm pretty sure that I already tried that. I think I tried every [Fn] key combination, especialy the 2 dealing with the display
(the CRT/?LFP? and the one for ?external monitors?). I tried those 2 multiple times. I will try them again when I get home, but
any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for all of your help,
Conan
Having a laptop screen with a huge black boarder, and too small is a
sign that the resolution is set too low.
Right click on a free area of the desktop, select properties->settings.
Look for the slider that sets resolutions. You should be good to go.
