I have a Dell Demension 8200. 2ghs processor, 512 512MB KIT RAMBUS PC800
(2PCS 256MB PC800 RDRAM.) I can buy another 512 for $196.00.
Or I can buy new Computer with a a faster processor with more Ram for
anywhere from $500.00 Up.
Does RAMBUS Ram make that much difference? I don't game so I really
haven't found anything this computer won't do. But, I was wondering if
these so called starter boxes faster than the Computer I payed &2000 for
3 years ago?
Can anyone give me the low down on Ram and if it makes that big of a
experienced?
Thank You,

Rambus was a failure. In its time, it was fast. Now it is not.

Sell your 8200 (part it out if necessary) and replace it.

Toms, Probably right if your looking to upgrade. I have the same machine
with a 1.7GHz processor, but when I bought it I got 256MB of RAMBUS RAM and
added 512MB at the time of purchase Before RAMBUS went bust and the prices
went through the roof. It's been a workhorse and we still use it for my
business today. I don't think a memory upgrade from 512MB to 1GB would be
worth it. But you say it does everything you want it to, so unless you just
want to upgrade, why buy another PC?

I did recently get a Dimension 9150 from the Small Business site that I
would highly recommend for the price though.
