Re: WARNING: NORTON GHOST DOES NOT WORK!

Rich;
You treat your data as extremely valuable.
Very prudent for data that is important to you.
Only the owner can make the determination as to the value of the data and
take appropriate steps.

What you do is overkill...until it is needed to restore from back-ups.

Nothing is guaranteed to work 100%.
As long as people are involved, there is always a chance of failure and
you
should be prepared for that possibility.

A single failure does nothing to prove a product is unreliable.
All the failure proves is Ghost is imperfect.
But we already knew that as we also know the same applies to all other
products.
Evaluate various products and use the best that your tests prove is best
for
your circumstances.

The importance of your data determines how far you need to go.
Extremely important data needs multiple methods of recovery in case there
is
a problem with the first.

i backup everything (OS and program partitions) weekly to a second
internal hard drive and to an external hard drive. the data partition
is backed up daily to the second internal hard drive and weekly to the
external drive. 3-4 times a year i will backup all partitions onto
DVD's and place them in the safe deposit box. those are my doomsday
backups.

none of this is guaranteed to work if a restore is needed so i test
semi-regularly. i also backup the OS and program partitions prior to
installing or upgrading any software. ok, i'm anal about this but one
crash can do that to anybody.
